Afghan delegation led by acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Amir Khan Motaqi met with Irans Foreign Minister Hussain Amir Abdulahian in Tehran on Sunday, January 9, 2022.
IEA in a statement said that delegations of both countries discussed bilateral economic, Political relations, trade, oil, transit, and security.
As per the statement, both delegations agreed Afghanistans geographic position to be a connecting point for both central and southern Asia and that Iran can also utilize the position.
"In the meeting, Afghanistan and Irans delegations agreed that Iran can use Afghanistans geography to export its goods to central and southern Asia and that Afghanistan can also use Irans geography for exports." Reads the statement.
Afghan delegation that is comprised of FM, Minister of trade and industry, head of the central bank, and several Deputy Ministers visiting Iran for the first time the Taliban regained power.
The Afghan delegation is officially invited to Tehran and Amir Khan Motaqi is supposed to leave the country for Qatar to attend a meeting on Afghanistan.
